Entendendo seu Ciclo Menstrual
The menstrual cycle is a natural process that prepares the female body for pregnancy each month. A typical cycle lasts 28 days but can range from 21 to 35 days in adults and 21 to 45 days in teens.
Phases of the Menstrual Cycle
Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5): The uterine lining sheds, resulting in menstrual bleeding. This marks Day 1 of your cycle.
Follicular Phase (Days 1-13): The pituitary gland releases FSH, stimulating follicles in the ovaries. One follicle becomes dominant and prepares an egg for release. Estrogen levels rise, thickening the uterine lining.
Ovulation (Day 14 in a 28-day cycle): A surge in LH triggers the release of a mature egg from the ovary. This is the most fertile time.
Luteal Phase (Days 15-28): The empty follicle becomes the corpus luteum, producing progesterone to maintain the uterine lining. If no pregnancy occurs, hormone levels drop and the cycle begins again.
What Affects Cycle Length?
Stress, travel, illness, weight changes, exercise intensity, and hormonal contraceptives can all affect cycle regularity and length.
